Students in the Middle School years, corresponding to grades 6-8, receive a very dynamic, highly interactive education that prepares them for high school. Though the curriculum is American, much of the coursework covers many of the typical GCSE core concepts in KS3 Science (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, & Physics), English (composition, prose, grammar, novels, etc) and Math (foundational concepts and pre-algebra).
The curriculum is accredited by AdvancED and by the time students finish this level, they would have been well familiarized with all topics that will come in their subsequent intensive classes in High School.

READING SKILLS & STRATEGIES
Reading Skills and Strategies is a course is designed to help struggling readers develop mastery in the areas of reading comprehension, vocabulary building, study skills, and media literacy, which are the course’s primary content strands. Using these strands, the course guides the student through the skills necessary to be successful in the academic world and beyond.
The reading comprehension strand focuses on introducing the student to the varied purposes of reading. In the vocabulary strand, the student learns specific strategies for understanding and remembering new vocabulary. In the study skills strand, the student learns effective study and test-taking strategies. In the media literacy strand, the student learns to recognize and evaluate persuasive techniques, purposes, design choices, and effects of media.

Spanish I teaches students to greet people, describe family and friends, talk about hobbies, and communicate about other topics, such as home life,occupations, travel, and medicine. ARABIC LANGUAGE
The Arabic program at Bayaan is an immersion program with a focus on spoken and written Arabic, Quranic vocabulary with proper usage of grammar, and Arabic comprehension. Teachers and students have to converse in Arabic during the Arabic Language class.
Curriculum series from Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk are used as the main resource.

Students taking Life Skills course focus on important functional day to day academic and living skills as well as critical thinking skills. Topics include:

ISLAMIC STUDIES
A key aspect of learning at this stage is to enhance the student’s character development – at the end of the academic year students envision the ‘best Muslim’ they can be, and come to know that ‘Allah loves me’, bringing to life all that they have learnt: i.e. a Muslim’s belief, character and actions. Young Muslims are encouraged to seek to be their best, and feel confident, loved and accepted amongst their peers and society, and be reassured that Allah’s love is paramount.
By conducting discussions and doing good actions, students learn to apply themselves as the ‘best Muslim’; they then conduct self-reflection, considering the benefits which come on a personal, familial, and societal level from doing so. This helps them to remain firm upon faith when navigating the challenges of life.
